
Current Undergraduate
The Computer Science Department offers many program
options for undergraduate students, including a bachelor of
science, a bachelor of arts, a minor, and combinations with
other areas of interest. The majority of our majors pursue
the bachelor of science, which is accredited by the
Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. Formal objectives and outcomes

BS Program Objectives

- Successfully engage in professional practice in the
computing sciences or apply computer science tools and
techniques to another field of interest.
- Pursue advanced study in the computing sciences.
- Behave in a professional and ethical manner.
- Work successfully in both independent and team environments.
BS Program Outcomes

- An understanding of basic computer science principles and practices.
- The ability to design and implement a system or
component to meet specifications using modern computing
tools.
- The ability to evaluate and compare the efficiencies of
alternate problem solutions.
- An understanding of the concepts and analytical approaches used in science and mathematics.
- The ability to contribute to a team project, including effective written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to work and learn independently, as well as an awareness of the need for continuing education.
- An exposure to humanities and social sciences that provides breadth and a societal context.
- An understanding of what constitutes ethical and professional behavior.
