Mathias Unberath, assistant professor of computer science and head of the Advanced Robotics and Computationally AugmenteD Environments Lab, has been selected to attend the National Academy of Engineering’s The Grainger Foundation Frontiers of Engineering 2023 Symposium, to be held September 10–13 in Boulder, Colorado.

A core faculty member in the Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare and the Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics, Unberath works to advance healthcare by creating collaborative intelligent systems that support clinical workflows.

The intensive two-and-a-half-day event fosters a collaborative environment for highly accomplished early-career engineers from industry, academia, and government. Participants will discuss pioneering technical and leading-edge research in various engineering fields and industry sectors, including healthcare, mining and mineral resource production, information security, and quantum systems.

Participation in the symposium is by invitation only following a competitive nomination and selection process.

Unberath also has recently been recognized with a Google Research Scholar Award and a National Science Foundation Early CAREER Award.
