Completion of the MSE CS program requires eight approved courses of 3 or more credit hours or the equivalent and a faculty–guided research project or ten approved courses. Students have the option to add the only CS master’s concentration in Human Language and Technology or to pursue an unofficial track more broadly in Artificial Intelligence.
- Requirement I: Complete eight one-semester courses in Computer Science (or in closely related fields such as Electrical and Computer Engineering, Cognitive Science, Mathematics, or Mathematical Sciences) approved by faculty advisor. A minimum of four courses must be from the following core areas: Application, Reasoning, Software, Systems, Theory.
- Requirement II: Complete two Computer Science graduate courses or a research project including a report, essay, or thesis.
