Yinzhi Cao is an assistant professor of computer science whose research focuses on the security and privacy of our web, network, and mobile systems. He is the technical director of the Johns Hopkins University Information Security Institute (ISI).

Cao was awarded the DARPA Young Faculty Award (YFA) in 2022, an NSF CAREER Award in 2021, and an Amazon Research Award in 2022 and 2017.

Cao is additionally affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University Institute of Assured Autonomy (IAA). His current projects are “Vulnerability Analysis of Web Applications” and “Security, Privacy, and Fairness Analysis of Machine Learning Systems.”

He joined Johns Hopkins in 2018 from Lehigh University, where he was an assistant professor. Cao received his BE in electronic engineering at Tsinghua University, China, in 2008 and his PhD in computer science at Northwestern University in 2014.
