Sierra AI agents are transforming customer experiences in the real world, helping customers set up Sonos speakers, refresh SiriusXM radios, and process OluKai shoe returns and exchanges. As Sierra has scaled with its early customers, it has pioneered the field of agent engineering and developed the agent development life cycle to effectively build, test, and optimize AI agents at scale.
In this talk, Dorothy Hu will discuss how Sierra builds AI agents to handle millions of customer interactions, how its unique business model adapts from customer service to sales, and how Sierra has solved challenges in building agents that run anywhere (e.g., over both chat and voice). Representatives will also speak about the Sierra APX program, an opportunity for new graduates to get their feet wet building AI agents with Sierra customers.
Hosted by Women in Computer Science—the official ACM-W chapter at Johns Hopkins—this talk will appeal to all students interested in building with frontier AI models—especially in going beyond the capabilities of large language models themselves by using an autonomous agent architecture, like Sierra does.
