The Computer Science Department Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering offers full-time programs at the Homewood campus in Baltimore. Our MSE program unites the creativity and innovation needed to realize the future’s limitless possibilities. Dedicated to solving critical societal challenges through advances in computing technology, our research targets core topics in computing in a broad range of applications, including robotics, human language technology, social policy, and disease diagnosis and treatment.
Working with partners across the Johns Hopkins institutions—including clinicians in the School of Medicine, scientists in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, and engineers at the Applied Physics Laboratory—we’re pursuing the potential and promise of data science and AI in an environment where the values of humanity, ethics, and accessibility are integral—where innovation is informed by the diverse voices and perspectives that reflect the world we serve.
The MSE in Computer Science offers an official concentration offers an official concentration in Human Language Technology, its only concentration jointly administered with the Center for Language and Speech Processing. Students may also choose to the Artificial Intelligence track.
As part of the Home to Hopkins program, full-time students are eligible to take up to two online courses through the Whiting School’s Engineering for Professionals program the summer before they start their full-time, residential master’s program. These courses apply to their master’s degree if satisfactorily completed. You can view the list of approved courses here. Email admissions@cs.jhu.edu to request more information.
