Congratulations to CS Sr. Academic Program Coordinator Kelly Culotta on receiving the “Rookie of the Year Award.” The award, along with the Whiting School of Engineering (WSE) Staff Excellence awards, was announced at the annual WSE Staff Recognition luncheon, held on April 8, 2019, in the Glass Pavilion on the Homewood Campus of JHU.

Culotta works directly with undergraduates, explaining program requirements and setting them up with advisors. She supports all 600+ majors and minors as a supplemental advisor to the students. Her role also includes course scheduling and resolving classroom scheduling conflicts, providing support to the various student groups connected to the department, and assisting with event logistics.

“Since joining our departmental staff in October 2018 as the first undergraduate program coordinator, Kelly Culotta has been a phenomenal employee,” said Joanne Selinski, CS Associate Teaching Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies. “In a word, she is ‘awesome.’ In a few short months, she has fully gotten up to speed on not only her job duties, but also filling in some current gaps in staffing. She has been instrumental in finding resolutions to difficult academic situations,” said Selinksi.

We wish to also extend recognition and congratulations to all the awardees and nominees, including CS Senior Administrative Coordinator Reatha Holt and JHU Information Security Institute’s Sr. System Engineer Christopher Venghaus. Holt was also nominated for the “Rookie of the Year Award” and Venghaus was nominated for a Staff Excellence Award.
