Call for Papers

The purpose of IRAL is to bring together researchers and developers, who are interested in exchanging new ideas and presenting results in the field of information retrieval with an emphasis on the issues related to Asian languages and multi-lingual applications. The first workshop was held in Taejon, Korea in 1996, followed by those held in Tsukuba, Japan (1997), Singapore (1998), Taipei (1999), and in Hong Kong (2000).

Unfortunately, because of organizing difficulties in the steering committee members of participating Asian countries, we could not hold the workshop in the years 2001 and 2002. This year, following the success of IRAL2000 held in Hong Kong just before ACL2000, we proposed and was granted to take advantage of holding IRAL2003 as one of the ACL2003 (to be held in Sapporo, located in the Northern island Hokkaido of Japan) supported workshops. We regard having the workshop held within ACL2003 as a good chance to restart the periodical gathering of the IR research community.

Best papers will be considered for publication in the ACM Transaction on Asian Language Information Processing (TALIP) .

IRAL2003 welcomes submissions of original papers in the broad field of information storage and retrieval, but topics contributed to Asian languages are encouraged. The technical issues to be addressed include, but are not limited to:

Submissions

Instructions for submissions of papers
