Graduate Students

Prospective graduate students interested in computational genomics and related topics are encouraged to apply to the graduate program in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University. Both Masters and Ph.D. programs are offered. There are open research positions in my laboratory.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Applications are invited for an open Postdoctoral Fellow position in my laboratory. The researcher will investigate topics including: DNA sequence alignment, text indexing, compression, assembly, and parallel and cloud computing. The researcher will also develop software and methods for analyzing next-generation sequence data. There will be opportunities for the researcher to collaborate with excellent biomedical researchers at JHU.

The Langmead lab has a track record of developing novel computational methods and providing usable, high-impact software tools to the genomics community, including: Bowtie, Bowtie 2, Crossbow, and Myrna.

Ideal applicants will have

  • A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing data.
  • Published papers in English and excellent communication skills.
