20th ACM Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architectures

Munich, Germany
June 14 - 16, 2008

20 Years of SPAA

This year, we will celebrate 20 years of SPAA with a series of invited talks, a special track on hardware and software techniques for multicore machines, and a poster session.

The SPAA program is now available (in pdf, last update June 2, 2008).

20 Years of SPAA

SPAA '08 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Groups on Algorithms and Computation Theory (SIGACT) and Computer Architecture (SIGARCH) and organized in cooperation with the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science.

The SPAA Symposium was called the ACM Symposium on Parallel Algorithms and Architectures from 1989 to 2002. The new name reflects the expanded scope of the conference as detailed below. SPAA '08 will feature regular papers, each with a 20-minute talk, and brief announcements, each with a 7-minute talk. The SPAA brief announcements are for brief communications including work in progress or demos. In addition to this, we will have a special track on hardware and software techniques for multicore machines and a poster session. Also, because of 20 years of SPAA, we will have presentations by the following invited speakers:

Note that immediately after SPAA 2008 the SIROCCO 2008 Conference will take place in Villars, Switzerland, which is not far away from Munich. So people who plan to attend SPAA may also think about attending SIROCCO and vice versa. Finally, there is one more good reason reason to come to SPAA:

Munich Anniversary On June 14-15, Munich will celebrate its 850th anniversary with an artists market and lots of shows in the center of Munich. More information (in German) can be found here.
