EATCS Election Statement: Thank you for the nomination of the EATCS council membership. I would be happy to have an opportunity to serve our community going forward. I studied in Iran, Canada and completed my PhD in the US before moving to Europe for a postdoc position in Austria and subsequently obtaining a permanent academic position in the Netherlands. With these experiences, an important part of my identity and vision is in international collaboration and our cohesion as a global TCS community. I therefore feel a strong commitment in countering challenges that various members of our community may face due to their background, gender identity or geopolitical situations. I would like to contribute to providing equal opportunities for everyone to participate in our events, conferences and collaborations. I believe that we should aim to bring together the sub-communities in TCS, and make our research more reachable, both to junior researchers and researchers in other computer science disciplines. I also support the TCS4F initiative, and believe that we should consider the environmental impact of our conferences, in addition to other impacts of conference locations on members of our community (with respect to visa challenges, family obligations, financial barriers, etc). For example, I would consider choosing locations where a reasonable share of participants can travel by train, and support allowing remote presentations in face of travel challenges (due to visa challenges or long flights), and believe that such considerations overall will have more positive than negative impact on participation in our events and promotes sense of inclusion. Evidence of my commitment to the TCS community in Europe can be seen as my involvement in organizing the IGAFIT AlgPie (Algorithms postdocs in Europe) workshop in 2022, and board membership of Dutch interest group in algorithms (SIGAlgo). I have also served as a PC member for ICALP 2023, ESA 2022 and HALG 2024. You can find more information on my background: https://www.cs.jhu.edu/~ynazari/
