SUMMARY:Computer Science Faculty Research Panel
DESCRIPTION:Faculty will present on their own research and areas of specialty and answer questions you might have on how to apply your degree to the broader world of computer science\, at Hopkins and beyond. \nZoom link >> \nLearn more about the faculty presenting: \nRandal Burns\nRandal Burns is the Bill and Lisa Stromberg Head of the Department of Computer Science. His research has pushed the scalability limits of data science based on emergent storage technologies; his work has been inspired by high-throughput science\, including numerical simulations for turbulence and neuroscience microscopy. \nRebecca Schulman\nRebecca Schulman is an associate professor and the Kent Gordon Croft Investment Management Faculty Scholar in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Schulman and her research group develop intelligent and adaptive biomolecular materials and nanostructures by combining ideas from materials science\, biochemistry\, circuit design\, soft matter physics\, and cell-free synthetic biology. \nJoshua T. Vogelstein\nAs an associate professor of biomedical engineering\, Joshua T. Vogelstein focuses on understanding how massive biomedical data sets are best analyzed to discover new knowledge about the function of living systems in health and disease\, and how this knowledge can be harnessed to provide improved\, more affordable health care.
