On March 29, 2017, The Johns Hopkins University Chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), held an intimate initiation ceremony to induct 22 new members in to its international honor society. This was the biggest initiation ceremony in UPE’s history.

UPE is dedicated to the discipline of computer information systems and computer science. The Hopkins chapter, which was recently nominated for the best small chapter award, is advised by JHU Computer Scientists Joanne Selinski and Scott Smith. It has 35 active graduates and undergraduate members.

UPE invites all interested computer science students to apply for membership. Candidates who have demonstrated both academic excellence and merit are considered for membership. Alumni members of the Hopkins UPE chapter enjoy successful careers at Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, Lyft, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Amazon.
