More than 95 percent of all email flowing through internet mail servers today is in a vulnerable, unencrypted form, despite the availability of the tools needed to make secure electronic mail a reality. Using this $500,000, five-year grant, Green will deepen our fundamental understanding of the design, architecture and implementation of secure messaging systems, and will examine the conflicting requirements created by the need for exceptional access mechanisms.
