NLP Software Registry (Thierry Declerck) ======================================== Actual status of the ACL Natural Software Registry -------------------------------------------------- The fourth edition of the ACL Natural Language Registry (NLSR) has been released this year (see http://registry.dfki.de/) This version offers among others a new functionality: a database has been developed which allows menu-guided standard queries for all the specifications of the products as they are listed in the Registry. So the visitor will have two types of access to the information stored in the NLSR: browsing through the structured list of products or by asking for specific information. Another novelty concerns the classification of the products, which in the former editions of the NLSR was no longer representing with accuracy the state of the art of the Human Language Technology (HLT). Our taxonomy is largely based on the book "State of the Art in Language Technology" (ed. by G.B. Varile and A. Zampolli, Linguistica Computazionale, volume XII - XIII). The classification can be enriched by the products submitted and/or by comments done by the visitors. For the time being around 130 products are listed, all of those having been checked on their actuality. Ongoing activities ------------------ - We are preparing a "call for submission" to be delivered by the ACL mailing list and other relevant lists (like COLIBRI). - We are checking the ACL catalog of Web-based NLP/CL resources and looking for redundancies or inconsistencies with the listing in the Registry. - We are looking for a closer cooperation and interlinking with initiatives concerned with the listing and organisation of NLP/CL resources (like TELRI, Elsnet, LDC, ELRA, national initiatives, the CLASS support project of the EC). - We will look for extending and improving the classification work done so far (taking into account more recent "Surveys" of the State of the Art in the HLT domain.)
