• GOAL: Maximum-liklihood estimate of surface orientation of a textured surface from observation of the distribution of projected tangents onto the image plane.

• ASSUMPTIONS:

  • Tangent directions of texture features on the surface are isotropically distributed.
  • Orthographic projection.
  • Surface is planar.
