You are an e-commerce provider of golf clubs and other goods related to this wonderful sport. You sell everything online. You are willing to provide names and addresses of customers to anyone who will pay you your fee (shame on you). However, you will not set cookies on peoples' machines, and you do not keep track of peoples' browsing habits. You destroy your web logs every night. a. Create a policy for your site that is appropriate for posting on the site. You may copy/paste from existing policies on the web to get all the legalise right, but make sure that the policy conforms to the policy rules in the assignment. Print it out to turn in. b. Using publicly available tools, create a P3P policy in XML for the site policy in (a), and print it out to turn in. c. Create a web page with your policy and include your P3P policy. Using the P3P validator at http://www.w3.org/P3P/validator.html, validate the policy to make sure it is correct and print out the results to turn in. Leave the web site up for me to check as part of the grading. 2. Somebody invents a new type of shoe. It has a special sensor that measures the temperature of your foot and uploads it to your computer, which sends it over the web to a server controlled by the inventor. If you have a temperature that indicates a fever, the server automatically contacts the shoe and opens a flap so that your foot will get more air. a. Would it be possible to trademark this shoe with the name Oreo? Why or why not? b. If someone were to try to trademark this invention as Reebok, under what circumstances would they get away with it? c. Is it okay to patent this shoe, even if one of the claims is: "A unit of clothing that wraps around the foot, keeping the toes warm." Explain your answer. d. What are the privacy implications of such an online temperature-gaging service? 3. Which is more privacy invasive, the physical world or cyberspace? Justify your answer.
