Assistant Research Professor,
The Department of Computer Science,
NSF Engineering Research Center for
Computer Integrated Surgery Systems and Technology.

I have only recently joined the department. My research interests are in medical robotics and vision. Some of my recent research is described in the CSR pages. Before rejoining Hopkins I worked at Intuitive Surgical Inc. on research and development of next generation systems and methods, in particular for teaching robotic surgery with the daVinci Surgical System where I also prototyped the mentoring functionality of the da Vinci Si robotic surgery system .

Some of the older publications are online.

Courses:
600.478 - Visual Imaging in Surgery and Medicine, tentative page for Spring, 2009.
600.245: Intro. to CIS, Summer Term II, 2008.

Other interesting stuff: I enthusiastically support the dhrupad tradition, especially my teacher Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar and his ensemble. Here are some examples of dhrupad. I am interested in inviting an established dhrupad performer to Baltimore for a workshop in 2010. If you would like to participate, learn, or help organize, please feel free to send me an email.
