Fall 2009

September 2, 2009 – December 7, 2009

Welcome to Video Game Design

If you have previous experience with video games and how they are made, and if you fulfill the prerequisites (or can convince yours truly) then you are in the right place. You'll spend a tough semester developing a finished game in a relatively big team with people from various backgrounds. What could be more fun? Let the games begin!

Basics

Catalog Description: An intensive capstone design project experience in video game development. Students will work in groups of 4-8 on developing a complete video game of publishable quality. Teams will (hopefully) include programmers, visual artists, composers, and writers. Students will be mentored by experts from industry and academia. Aside from the project itself, project management and communication skills will be emphasized. Enrollment is limited to ensure parity between the various disciplines and requires permission of the instructor.

Prerequisite(s): 600.255/256: Introduction to Video Game Design or permission of instructor. Junior or senior standing recommended.

Academic Honesty: It is your responsibility to adhere to the Department Integrity Code and other applicable university regulations. Feel free to email us your questions or concerns.
