I finished my Ph.D. in the Department of Computer Science at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. I was part of the Computational Interaction and Robotics Lab and the NSF Engineering Research Center for Computer-Integrated Surgical Systems and Technology (ERC-CISST). My advisor was Dr. Greg Hager. I was also co-advised by Dr. Christine Lorenz at Siemens Corporate Research.
Presently, I'm a Staff Scientist and IP Manager in the SYNGO US R&D Technology with Siemens Healthcare.
Research
Broadly, my research interests are in the cross functional areas of computer vision, image computing, machine learning, medical imaging, image-guided surgery and interventions and robotics.
At Siemens, I have been involved in the area of robust image computing, interpreation and analytics. More specifically, development of exemplar-based learning algorithms for primitive (points, lines, planes, surfaces) localization and tagging; and it's fusion with clustering, registration, segmentation, prediction/voting and data modeling techniques for robust and efficient extensions. These solutions were instrumental in improving and automating Siemens scanners and medical image-reading workflows.
My PhD dissertation work involved development of image-based tracking methods, specifically for image-guided surgery and improved motion compensation for Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging of cardiac structures like coronary arteries and valves. My thesis can be downloaded here.
