Re: kritik

Critiques are voting issues because of the same reason every other
argument is a voting issue: the evidence makes a claim which requires the
judge to respond in a particular way. I have heard some people say that
they don't think critiques are voters, and other people who suggest that
critiques are always voters. I am not sure what either of these camps
mean. The term critique/kritik/insert your favorite spelling, obscures
the claims of particular arguments. Anything which has been couched
under the term critique is nothing more than an argument. Arguments make
claims, the evidence supports those claims. An argument with a voting
issue does nothing but elucidate the reasons, stated in the evidence, as
to why the judge should consider and evaluate the position. I think in
many cases the voting issues become redundant, as a good debater will
explain the reasons for voting for the position/against the other team,
during the extension of the position. A debater who fails to do this
will probably lose anyway.
