My, my. After being called a whiner, I guess I should clarify my opinion
a little further.
Mr. Lechtreck seems to believe that I would like to force study time on
other debaters, which is the farthest thing from the truth. I have the
utmost respect for those debaters who put in more time than I do (which
would be a _large_ amount of time) and in no way wish to demean them or
seem disrespectful. My only concern, and perhaps it is only a personal one,
is that an earlier topic release puts pressure on students to cut evidence
during a time of the year where there are great number of other concerns.
If people are so anxious to cut cards on a specific topic, then why don't
you ask around and get a general feel of what is going to be voted on.
That's what I have done.
By the way Mr. Lechtreck, how do your debaters feel about this view of yours?
I have conciously made the choice to sacrifice part of my debate success in
order to obtain decent grades. Others are free to choose the other way,
but I don't think I should be punished for wanting to get my academic life
settled before I hit the library.

Student/Damn good debater.
Syracuse University.
P.S. How much my opinion is worth is up for contention anyway. After all,
I was the only person against Tim Mahoney's proposal to have all 5-3s
break at Nats. As fate would have it, we went 5-3, and missed by 2 points.
