Re: CEDA Points: The Root of All Evil
The debate on inteltionally forfeiting to preserve eligibility is an
intertesting and valuable one -- I think it is good for the commuinity to
discuss this idea with the intention of understanding each other even if
not coming to a common agreement on the practice. I think there are reasons
both for and against.
I have a potentiall significant question, however:
New transfer students are ineligible to garner CEDA points for their new
schools, but they _are_ eligible to debate.
Would (for example) a team that had participated in 3 novice rounds, and
hence was ineligible for Novice ceda points, be allowed to participate in a
novice division of a tournament if the program director thought it the best
educational experience for these students? Does the constitution speak to
this, or would it be up to the tournament director?
It it not difficult to imagine that a team having success in novice at
small regional tournaments might not want to move up in a tough "national"
tournament, or at a tough tournament that had only open & novice.
