which rez to vote for...

personally, i didn't really want to extend the MExico topic: i think that
it is worded too poorly, it has no limits for an affirmative, ait deals
witht a rather non-contrversial topic (mexico, as if they would get
pissed at us), and this last minute extension screws some schools,
HOWEVER, after looking at the topics, i think that voting to extend is
good idea... these resolutions are pathetic.

::RESOLVED: That the United States federal government should increase
::development of information technology within the United States.

aka... resolved that the US should do what it is already going to do.
how am i supposed to run a DA on this topic. i can already invision each
affirmative starting with OB I: the expansion of info-tech is inevitable,
and we isolate one small way in which it will expand poorly and fix that.
i cannot even begin to imagine trying to negate, what is there to do?

::RESOLVED: That computer mediated communication has, on balance,
::decreased the quality of life in the United States.

rez of fact (is that what it is called?) of a past period of time...
sounds boring. A non-policy topic, too, ughhh.

::RESOLVED: That the United States federal government should significantly
::increase support for the use of information technology in United States
::schools.

once again, the gov should do what it is already doing. and i couldnt
think of a less contentious area. i dont think that there are too many
people saying that we shouldn't do this. negating versus this would suck,
too.

::RESOLVED: That the United States federal government should significantly
::increase restrictions on the export of information technology from the
::United States.

this is by far the best. the gov is doing an action that is not currently
doing, it has some element of foreign policy to it, just better than the
rest.

::RESOLVED: That it would be desirable for the United States federal
::government to increase content restrictions on the Internet.

internet, ughhh. the us trying to put content restrictions on a
multi-national, non-governmental body. yeah, right.

just thoughts... vote to extend mexico.
