GDT WEEK IS APPROACHING!
Hey, would you like a tournament with octafinals in Open? In Junior? In
Novice?
Would you like a tournament with Quarters in CEDA LD?
That's what we had at the Gateway last year and with new programs
burgeoning in our area, it promises to be bigger than ever! Who
knows--maybe octas in LD, as we had two years ago!!!!!!
"Meet Me in St. Louie, Louie,
Meet me at the Fair
Don't tell me the lights are shining,
Anywhere but there!!!!"
We are excited here and getting fired up for another GDT Week, leading to
GDT weekend!!! We are getting the campus "gussied up" as the elves at the
Woltman trophy shop are building our spectacular trophy display for our
banquet! 125 awards to be given in Debate (along with 144 across 14 events
in IE)--not even including the top sweepstakes awards--for a total of at
least 272 awards to be given--and that doesn't even include our surprises
to celebrate our 10TH GATEWAY! Beautiful clocks for sweepstakes!
10 speaker awards in each CEDA Division! Top five speaker awards in LD, IN
ADDITION TO those breaking!
A Jesuit CEDA tournament!!! A must for those wanting to be in Carbondale
in February! A must for those desiring to be competitive in DESIGNATE
SWEEPSTAKES!
A new and improved scheduling program!
November 3-5--Come to the big city where the lights are shining! The
UM-St. Louis Gateway.
E-mail me at the above to get in invite if you don't have one! Do NOT
e-mail your entry--we prefer calls and faxes since we never know when our
computers are going to go down. Last year, we had 1 school entered 10 days
out (As usual, UCO's mailed entry), 14 by the Friday before, 23 at the end
of the day Monday, and 53--NO KIDDING--by the Deadline Tuesday. So please
bear with me until Tuesday deadline for a complete list of schools entered
and what teams are entered in what division!
This year we already have an entry--so thanks to Dr. Hunsaker and his new
program at McHendree for entering three weeks in advance! Have commitments
from schools from the following states: California, Utah, Texas, Oklahoma,
Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi,
Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan,
Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Florida--hope to get entries from many other
states. An inquiry even from Nova Scotia! A truly nationally (and maybe,
internationally) competitive tournament! If I left your state out, YOU ARE
INVITED! We're looking forward to seeing you all again for this event!
More details each day--stay tuned!
