Debating infotech

The industry building up around the opportunities the Internet offers,
including existing industries that are exploring this vehicle, is
relatively young.

There are many important and emerging policy and regulatory issues
which can potenitally impact their development. Although there is an
opportunity for managment of these risks, there is not a large number
of folks addressing these issues from a strategic sense.

To me, this seems like a huge area. Lots of industries spend resources
on managing public affairs. Indeed, there are currently folks working
to throw up roadblocks. I would love to say in an interview, "I did
the equivalent of a masters degree worth of research on issues
affecting your business."

Anyway, that may be too far removed for some of you, however, if I knew
I'd get to debate infotech, I'd have hung on to that last semester of
eligibility (and maybe gone to a few more schools:-).

two cents.
