Re: national's qualification

Mr. Mahoney, I would have to agree with Will Baker on this one. I am a
novice from SMS, and we compete in JV to learn. We have attended only 2
novice tournaments all semester. In the other 3, we competed JV and
learned alot about real debate. Micah, my partner and I both learn from
experience. I believe that by isolating novice teams because you believe
that they learn better by watching is ridiculous. I was under the
belief that debate was an educational activity but I am now hearing that
is OK to exclude the babies of the activity, that is just wrong

At the same time, the novice teams that we are discussing are the ones
who want to compete because of the learning experience. They should
be allowed that opportunity if they choose to do so. Micah and I have
been fortunate enough to an awesome coaching staff that believe we
should compete in JV when the novice division is collapsed. I am happy
that our coaching staff allows us to debate in JV because some staffs
leave their novices at home. They aren't learning anything by staying
there. On that same note, how can a coaching staff justify sending a
novice team to observe at Nat's, the expenses and all. Just a couple
of thoughts!

Willy Nelson Jr. -In just a couple of days we'll be on the road again,
SMS Debate for UCO, see ya'all there...
