GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP OPPORTUNITY
It's kinda sad to think about, but after an association with Syracuse
University Debate that dates back to the Paleozoic era, I will be seeking
a Ph.D. at some other lucky school next fall. Accordingly, Syracuse is
seeking some other lucky person to serve as graduate assistant to our
competitive debate program for the 95-96 school year.
I want to encourage folks from regions other than the East and folks with
backgrounds in NDT to apply. And I particularly want to encourage women
and members of traditionally underrepresented groups to apply. Syracuse
offers its graduate assistants competitive stipends, tuition benefits of
24 credits per calendar year, waiver of the student health fee and the
opportunity to participate in the SU employee health plan. Our MA/MS
program in Speech Communication is broad based and exposes students to
study in both rhetoric and social science-oriented communication theory.
The program also provides the opportunity to take elective courses
throughout SU, including the renowned Maxwell School of Citizenship &
Public Affairs and Newhouse School of Public Communication.
Serious inquiries only should please send me a reply e-mail message at
iamallin@mailbox.syr.edu and I will make sure that an information package
and application gets out to you in the next day's mail. Alternatively,
you may write to Professor Richard Buttny, Director of Graduate Studies,
SU Speech Communication, 100 Sims Hall, Syracuse NY 13244-1230.
