Re: Democracy
Hey, this is my first time writing in...Here's my 10 cents... :)
Resolved: that United states intervention to foster democratic governments
is appropriate in a post-cold war world.
This topic is really broad... I could see a whole bunch of different
interpretataions of words in the resolution... the word 'intervention' I
thinks implies action and thus would require, or force a team to put out
some kind of plan. I could see running some pretty crazy cases-I think
that an outer space could could be really cool, how via satellite dishes
we try to foster democratic societies on foriegn worlds...Another broad
base for misinterpretation would be on the word appropriate. I can just
see the case turns now...just in the sense of what is appropriate.
My main gripe is that, (at least as a novice debater), I could see this
topic getting mired in Jurisdictionals as opposed to real clash, plus once
if ever we could get into a substantive arguement, we would have to
discuss the issue of implying action and thus tieing impacts to case adn
off-case... Gotta git!
