Gotta disagree here. I believe that the most universally accepted theory of
fiat is to make factual, that which is currently counter-factual. In other
words, let it be done. There have been some conventions added over the years
by people who find it easier to only have to debate fiating laws, but the
theory really doesn't make that distinction (at least it didn't when I first
learned it back in the dark ages).

I hope we don't have to get into why fiat is limited to law? If fiat
allows us to prevent things by simply wishing them away - the "world love

Not sure why these are the only two choices. I think there is a lot of
ground that is not limiting fiat to law, but also is not what you obviously
assume to be fiat abuse. You don't have to limit fiat to get out of the
utopian debate, just argue the abuse when you hit it.
What about fiating an action?
What about fiating pulling out of the UN?
What about fiating anarchy? Socialism? World gov?
