date change for the Red Rock

Forensic Participants ALL:

Please note on your calendars a temporary ONE-YEAR ONLY date change
for the Southern Utah University Red Rock Forensic Tournament. It
will take place Saturday/Sunday, September 27-28, 1997. Reasons:

1) Becky Bjork understandably did not want to run two invitationals
in the same year she is running NDT, and graciously consented to let
us borrow her "Scrimmage" date for this year.

2) We've been having a tough time drawing on our traditional date,
and are contemplating a different change for future years. This will
give us a chance to see who might come if we're on ANY date different
from our previous years.

3) My students thought it would be better to run the tournament
earlier than to do it during the middle of our quarter when we have a
full competitive schedule plus mid-terms.

4) I didn't see any other "season-opener"-type tournaments in the
area we would be in conflict with.

Request: The mailing lists we have are in DIRE need of updating. My
attempts to do that during the school year have met with---less than
stellar results. If you did not receive an invitation last year,
(or had to call and ask for one) could you please e-mail me with a
current mailing address? We will make sure you are invited.

Tournament features: competition in all 11 AFA IE's, open parli,
team debate (we'll offer all 3 divisions, but had to collapse to a
single division last year). We are going to try to add NFA Lincoln-
Douglas this year. Basically same as always, adding LD. We will
send out hard copy invitations early August, and post invitations to
all the -Ls.
