Re: The benefits have already begun

I, too, found Mr. Tucker's vision to be a bit optimistic.

However, I am a great believer in the power of words and ideas. The first
step towards the future Mr. Tucker describes is for him to imagine it and
talk about it.

Of all the pro-CR stuff I have read on the Ls, this was probably the most
powerful for me. Part of that power is found in Patrick's response. Yes,
rounds now between Emory and Pitt may not be that catalytic in terms of
social change, but it could be different. Something tells me that it would
be different.

There is clearly a clash between those who worry about the "mechanics" of
debating a topic and the "meaning" of debating a topic. People might think
about the old song, "Which side are you on...."

Debating CR may not change things as much as Mr. Tucker hopes, but it will
change things, and it may very well be for the better.

I have found these discussions to be very enlightening so far.
