New List
eDebate is now ready. It stands available for the use of the community. As
I mentioned previously, it will have easily searchable archives with web
access.
I am now going to just let it sit for a while until I hear something from
the other list operators, Doyle Srader and Jamey Dumas. I know that Jamey
is camping. It doesn't seem very urgent at the moment. The community seems
to want to avoid duplicate messages, so here is a way to do that.
I mean, we could move it all to NDT-L, but Doyle won't be there forever.
Also, it does seem inconvenient for Jamey to operate the CEDA-L listserv
from 3000 miles away. I may not be smart but I am at least settled and
tenured. I promise to keep the list going and to not interfere with free
expression on it, although I am likely to discourage postings that are not
about debate.
If we want to consolidate into one list, we can take the subscriber lists
for the two listservs and subscribe them to eDebate. However, I don't want
to do that without hearing from the current list operators.
Unless we turn off the other two before we turn on eDebate, we might end up
with THREE copies of every posting. And that is not what I have in mind...
Now, back to my renewable energy research for the HS handbook.
