I just wanted to respond to Gary's comments about his squad's perception of
the various topics.

I had a different experience than Gary. My students unanimously WANTED to
debate Civil Rights. They voted it #1. Even students who are not very "pro"
civil rights voted it #1. Why? 

Well, it's very different than most topics.  It is actually... GASP...
controversial. Imagine that... a controversial debate topic... who would-a
thunk.
