New on Debate Central for May, 1997

NEW ON DEBATE CENTRAL 
May, 1997, Vol. IV #5

Newsletter of the DEBATE CENTRAL web site, an electronic library and resource
area for the colleges, universities, and high schools of the world who
participate in competitive educational debating. DEBATE CENTRAL is a service
of the Lawrence Debate Union at the University of Vermont. Alfred C. "Tuna"

NEW SERVER NOW OPERATING

The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Vermont has awarded a
grant to the Lawrence Debate Union to purchase its own WWW server for DC and
other related pages. An Apple Macintosh Workgroup Server 7250, running
WEBSTAR and NetPresenz, now handles all DC materials except for the WebChat
space. We hope that this new server will give you quicker service AND an
easier URL address to deal with! Don't worry, though, the old URL will bounce
you forward to the new location. Previous figures indicated that during the
period of 9-96 until 4-97 DC had about 2600 logons a month. We hope to
increase that in the coming year

to help you prepare for next year's debate experience. Or, find out about
handbooks available for next year's high school policy topic in the EMPORIUM
section of DC. Or, check out the possibilities for next year's college topic
by looking at the topic papers in the CEDA section.
