While I consider Matt to be one of my friends and I have the utmost
respect for him, I think that Steve is correct about the fact that
hurling insults at folks (even if they are vaguely humorous depictions of
an angry Marxists nipples :)) ultimately doesn't help anyone. I am
concerned that the tone of the civil rights discussions, and the current
direction of the cfr discussion has served to alienate more people than
it has persuaded. Jennifer Alme has posted about this concern numerous
times, and while I believe that she (and others) have often overlooked
the substantive discussions that many were attempting to have, she is
correct that many of the posts have been derisive, and less than
constructive. My friend Maxwell recommends the 24 hour rule....from
personal experience, it seems that this is often a good idea.
