In defense of Matt and not a defense of Matt.

I'll take first things last.  Matt is a commie.  I am a Capitalist.
Capitalism is better.  I like being able to be selfish and all of those
other things.  It just makes better (business) sense, dagnabbit!!!

In defense of Matt and his want to have an informal straw poll.  Well,
from what I have read, thus far, I think that the results are fairly
accurate, or at least as accurate as they can be.  No, we cannot be the
scientific genious that Alan Dove is.  After all, who can be? ;)

Seriously, though, if you are a person who gets the digest version of
this, I can only think of at least 2-3 people (myslef included) who have
put in serious numbers of posts trying to exhort people to vote for the
civil rights topic.  On the other hand, I see people all of the time
saying that ANYTHING but the civil rights topic would be Kool and the
Gang (esp. the SE Asia topic with the really big and cool disads, yeah,
yeah!!!  Shut up, Beavis!). Either way, I think that they are fun and
informative. Of course they don't have "lab quality," like the stuff that
Alan Dove puts out all of the time.  But hey, we are debaters and
reasonableness shouldn't be something we lose.  Certainly, Matt's post
regarding the INFORMAL straw poll (but not the shit about the Jazz being
able to take down Jordan, maybe the cold of UT is freezing your brain,
Matt? :) is interesting.  But, take it as seriously or as lightly as you
will.

But hey, it is all fun and games.  Just don't pick on my boy, the flaming
pinko, he's not all bad (except for that damn communist economic system 
he think would work in a land far, far away with those people who like
the community more than themselves, or something even close)... :)

Good thing there are people who are in "the Real World" (like Alan Dove)
who can keep people like Matt in check.
