Excellent.  I agree that more former debaters should maintain an active
involvement.  Obviously, it's important for debate to have plenty of
tenure-track DOFs keeping programs stable, but this isn't always
practical.  Of course, I have a strong bias on this point, being a
"real-worlder" myself, and traveling with programs that are all coached by
other volunteers.

Not inevitably, but frequently.  It depends on the starting conditions and
external changes.  The point is well taken, though, since debate relies on
too many other external variables and has too little internal diversity to
survive without constant input.
