Re: Where does CEDA come from?

Unfortunately, last year's tournament was attended by only three schools
(my memory tells me): Northern Illinois, Allegheny, and Loyola. As a result
of this declining attendence, Hillsdale people said that they would not be
offering the tournament in the future.

I think it's sad that CEDA has lost its commitment to this type of diversity.
I wouldn't want my debaters to debate *only* for lawyers, but I think it's
very educational for students to experience a diversity of audiences.

It seems that very few current CEDA DoFs believe that diversity of audiences is
worth even one (free!!!!) tournament.

Hmm. I guess that last sentance reads like a challenge. So be it: people who did
not attend Hillsdale's tournament, why not? Do you disagree with (my belief in)
the educational value of sometimes having students attempt to convince
intelligent,
educated but untrained critics?
