Rocky Mountain Championship, 2-28 through 3-2 1997

We are pleased to invite teams from all over the
country to attend the first annual Rocky Mountain
Championship debate tournament, which will be
held on the beautiful Price campus of The College
of Eastern Utah from February 28 through March
2, 1997.

Several features will make this an exciting tournament
not to be missed.  We will be offering:

*Open and junior divisions of team topic (CEDA/NDT) debate

*Open and junior divisions of NPDA debate

*Open and junior Lincoln-Douglas debate (on the CEDA
topic).

Should the number of entries warrant collapsing
divisions, we will STILL recognize worthy junior
competitors, both team and speaker, in each event.

We are committed to keeping our entry fees as
low as possible, in order to send a statement to the
debate community that fees need not be as excessive
as they sometimes are.  And if you are a program with
budgetary challenges, you should contact us for some
compassionate and constructive arrangements.  The
egalitarianism we advocate is not just found in our
counterplans!

Price is located in the beautiful mountains of Utah.
The most democratic and liberal town in Utah, Price
features a variety of recreation and is a stone's throw
from such wonderous sites as Arches National Park,
Dead Horse Point (more beautiful than the Grand
Canyon) and the mysterious Goblin Valley.  Price
also has a tasty micro-brewery and several other
watering holes.  Originally a Greek mining and
railroad community, Price has some of the best-kept
dining secrets west of the Mississippi.
We are IN Utah, but most assuredly
not OF Utah!

More information will be provided in the coming
invitation.  Rocky Mountain area schools have
already pledged their support to make this a
memorable and competitive tournament.  We
invite those from everywhere else to taste some
TRUE Utah hospitality and dispell all those nasty
rumors!
