Re: Latin America topic?

I think it would be a good idea to place the topic Doyle Srader posted on
the CEDA ballot. I don't wish to rehash the discussion of awhile ago on
crossovers...i just think it's a good topic. For anyone unclear on which
one I'm talking about, here it is:

On Wed, 10 May 1995, Doyle Srader wrote:

There are two reasons I feel this way:

First, it's focused and narrow. We have had a ton of broad topics in the
past few years, and I think a well-written topic with clear limits would
be welcome. Topicality is a pretty easily resolvable question under this
resolution. There will be a few well-developed, topical cases, and a few
well-developed, germaine negative positions...I like it.

Second, there is still plenty to discuss under this resolution. The drug
war literature is substantial. Crop substitution alone provides a lot of
different slants to take on it. Professor Church wondered if the topic
might be too narrow...I don't think so, given the wealth of literature.
There is plenty to discuss here over a term, as far as I can tell.

Hope y'all are having a fun summer...
