A "NEW" JOURNAL
I am concerned that there are fewer opportunities for publishing important
research in debate, qualitative and quantitative). Now that Argumentation
and Adovcacy has shifted its emphasis. We have very few options: CEDA
Yearbook, The Forensic, Speech & Gavel....
I have two requests:
1. Would some of you out there help me produce a listing of outlets for
publishing in the field of academic debating?
2. If I undertook the task through StarMakers to publish a refereed journal
(next year an annual), would some of you out there serve as refs. I don't
want to compete with CY. I do want to make sure that papers at SCA don't
dissolve into the ether. I also want to give opportunities for the discourse
on CEDA-L to find its way into print (e.g., very interesting discussions on
counterplan disposition and online evidence). From my end, I'll solicit a
publisher to produce a quality copy (non-Kinkoish) with a cloth (or clothlike
cover). I'll do cost analysis and project expenses. What I'll need from my
colleagues will include: (1) articles, (2) reviewers, (3) subscriptions (I'll
design a form for your libraries).
Tentative title: DEBATES AND DEBATING.
Input appreciated.
