Subject: UNLV Tournament dates

Hi all:  I know that most of you are feverishly preparing for various
national tournaments, but I'ld like to have you think about something in
the next few weeks and send your feedback to me.  The UNLV tournament has
traditionally fallen on Columbus day weekend and in 1997 it will also
fall on the weekend of Yom Kippur.  It is tough to get rooms in Vegas on
a holiday weekend, and even tougher to get decent airfares and/or
schedules for flights.  So....I'm comtemplating a change in weekend for
this year.  The first (and most viable) option is the weekend of October
25-27 (which I think is the weekend before Kidney-though I haven't heard
for sure).  The other option would be the first weekend in October (4-6),
which is the Kentucky weekend.  I suspect there will be conflicts
regardless of which dates I choose, but I would like feedback from those
of you who have attended the "Hank Greenspun Invitational" in the past,
or who plan to attend in the future.

You can e-mail me with your response or I will be at the NDT, so I will
be talking with people then.  We hope to make a decision on the date
shortly after the national debate tournaments are finished, so watch for
a final decision sometime in early April.
