conspiracies of silence?
First, at any business meeting anyone can bring an advisory motion to the
floor to change tournament procedures. Now while this does not help the
current group of time-changers, it does point out that if they had thaught
ahead they had an avenue of action at SCA. It is not like everyone did
not know what the time-limits at CEDA nationals were going to be (uh, 8-3-5
as long as I have been in CEDA).
Second, the CEDA constitution specifies what the administrative roles of the
president are in regards to the national tournament. This means that anyone
opposed to these powers could attempt to amend them in a democratic forum.
My suspicion is that many who want Pam to immediately change the time-limits
prefer she does not act democratically (because any such motion would
probably fail) and so we digress again to name calling and strong arm tactics.
In addition, anyone opposed to the presidential tournament powers could have
worked against them as long as they have been a member (and possessed a copy
of the CEDA constitution). Why wait until it is too late to amend the
procedures in a democratic way when the opportunity obviously has existed
since the current constitution has.
Third, stop blaming the executive council for things that they have not done.
At no meeting that I have been to has one single person braught up time-limits
or changing executive discretion in running the tournament. It seems
disengenuous to place the blame on a group that is following the edicts
of the community to the best of their abilities.....
