Re: Is CEDA-L Representative?

In a message dated 97-03-03 13:08:43 EST, you write:

<< 1) Bear suggested in one of his posts that a vote on the CEDA-L should
be sufficient to establish community intent (Sorry if I misquote you
Bear but I didn't save the specific line from the score of posts by
you). I think this is a mistake. You can pretty well count on the
fingers of two hands those that post to the L on a regular basis. To
presume that the opinions expressed on the L are representative of
the community at large is illusory at best. >>

Yes, Rodger, you do misquote. I never took this position. I do not think
policy should be based directly or solely from the listserve. I think, on the
other hand, to exclude issues expressed on the L,out of some fear of giving
into "hotheads," is as equally skewed.

Regardless, I saw no actions from Pf. Stepp, online or on-paper, attempting
to ascertain the membership's input on format questions. I saw no other CEDA
officer eliciting such info, either. A lot of promises, little real action.

Bear
