While Bear doesn't need me, or anyone else, to defend him I take
exception to the blanket implication that the interests of the "Mighty Bear"
and the interests of students are necessarily polar opposites of each
other.   Many of the supporters of early release also do so with the
students in mind, i.e. letting them begin school without the panic driven
crush of researching a topic which comes out so close to the opening
tournaments.  

Please don't attempt to wrap all proponents of early release under the
same big blanket.
