disclosure and commitment

Pace debate pleads not guilty to the charge of shifting our procedures. We
agree that disclosure procedures should be carefully considered and
implemented consistently. In fact, that was our reason for posting. We have a
well thought out disclosure policy that we have used for the majority of this
year. We will continue to use that same policy at nationals. Our policy is to
disclose fully on the affirmative as long as that is reciprocated. We don't
disclose when we are negative and we don't expect other teams to disclose to
us when they are negative. When we are negative against a team/school we have
never debated before our policy is often met with resistance. When we are
negative our policy can be perceived as unfair i.e. we get to know everything
about your aff and you don't get to know anything about what we are going to
say. Since there are many teams/schools at nationals that we have not debated
this year we wanted to announce more publicly what our disclosure policy is
so that we are treated fairly as are our opponents. We also wanted to confirm
with as many teams as possible that this policy was mutually acceptable.
