Disclosure at DSR's

Mr. Berman and I have recently decided to alter our policy concerning
disclosure and felt it was important to provide prior warning of such in
order to avert any possible misunderstandings or tension. If this is of no
interest to many of you, I apologize for cluttering up the L and only do so
because it offers a unique means of accessing this community.

The following policy governing disclosure will be in effect for my partner
and I at DSR's and potentially at CEDA Nationals as well:
We will continue to disclose on the affirmative so long as that policy is
reciprocated by our opponents and we are running a case which we have
previously broken. Full plan text will only be offered if we are in turn
allowed to access verbatim texts of any CP's that will be run. When
negating, however, we will NOT disclose our positions or strategies prior
to the debate. Obviously, we will not expect our opponents to disclose on
the negative except for instances in which they wish to see plan text and
are willing to extend their CP text in the fashion outlined above.

This policy as not in any way a reaction to problems or failings we have
experienced with any of you in the past. In fact, we have found that
disclosure has been maintained in good faith with almost univeral success.
Rather, it results from discussions between ourselves and our coaches
regarding what would work best for us at the upcoming tournament.
Certainly, we do not wish to antagonize anyone with it, and hope that any
questions or concerns people may have will be backchanneled to us.

Moreover, this policy is limited to Ber Man and myself as a team, and not
Cornell as a squad. We hope and trust that Cornell's current disclosure
policy (revealing both aff and neg strategies to those who reciprocate) can
remain intact for the remainder of our squad; we want nothing less than to
see what is a unilateral decision on our parts inflicted upon our fellow
teammates. Good luck to all at the upcoming tournaments.
