Skarb,

If it's such a moot point why do you feel the need to get involved? I think
ENMU's motivation is because it's so damn hard to get respect in an activity,
like CEDA, which seems to protect it's more established programs. I remember
how mad I was when Korcok kept suggesting that the Weber squad was
essentially not worth including in a fantasy debate gambling operation. It
was great motivation for my debaters to beat his.
Maybe it's the same urge that underlies these rumors of your impending
transfer. Everyone wants the respect and opportunity for success that they
think they deserve.
Despite the recent rhetoric of a global unity of debate saving the planet, if
we just carry old school politics into the next century, we are holding up a
pretty sad example to the rest of the world.

Don't blame Berube. He let others vote for the field. While it's fun to poke
at David, I don't think it's his fault and I wish he'd reflect on that before
he thinks he has to protect the name of his tournament by inviting people to
not apply in the future.

I was the very last voter. Berube had to remind me of the deadline. I ranked
ENMU about 13th. That means that without my vote, they wouldn't even have
made third alternate. I won't name the names like Tuna asks for (a very
peace-inducing move), but there are clearly some teams in the field that
should've been lower in the field, if for no other reason than they are
debating with new partners or after having laid out most of last year.
Perhaps academic ineligibility for last year's nats should also be
considered.
It just a shame when you can clear at most of the major tournaments, beat
major teams, break to quarters at CEDA Nats, and still miss the field
entirely. Just think, if UCO hadn't dropped out, ENMU wouldn't have even been
an alternate. Weak. Very weak.

We need to stop voting for friends and vote reality. The CEDA judging pool is
still contaminated with the "rightness" of voting for long-time friends and
screwing enemies. I remain convinced that a "first-round" procedure in CEDA
would be a travesty for these very reasons. I join Murphy in asking the other
USC RR rankers to explain why they felt that ENMU should be ranked so lowly.
I think some people did something here that's pretty unethical, and I know
there's one name that stands out in my mind.

Bear
Weber State, which, by the way, did receive a bid to the USC RR
