Despite the end of the env. topic, I am still following this stuff daily
for work -- thought at least some would appreciate this "clip" on

FISH `POLLUTANT': The Washington Pollution Control Hearings Board has
ruled that farmed non-native Atlantic salmon that escape from pens are
a "pollutant", reports The Tacoma News Tribune. Some environmentalists
argue that escaped fish pose a threat to native Pacific salmon due to
the possibility of interbreeding and competing for food. Fish feces
and other waste from the pens also pose a threat to water quality. "We
believe [fish farming] is not an appropriate use of the waters of Puget
Sound," said the Marine Environ. Consortium's Barbara Stenson.
